Sixth Grade Beginning Band

Hello, 5th Grade Parents!

Now that your child is going into 6th grade, he or she has the opportunity to join band at OMS! We will soon be hosting an instrument try-out night and I hope you and your child will be interested in attending! Being involved in band is a meaningful way to experience music and get to express oneself in the process! Band teaches the value of commitment and being part of a team. I sincerely hope you and your child will consider joining the band family!

On May 23rd at 5:00 PM at Olympia High School, incoming 6th grade students will have the opportunity to try various instruments and hear from current band members what it is like being part of the band! Before attending the meeting, I ask that you sign up HERE under a time slot that works best for your family.  Please encourage your child to have three instruments chosen they would like to try.  They are NOT limited to those three, but it will help keep the night moving.  We want your child to love the instrument they chose!

A representative from the Music Shoppe will be available to help with instrument purchasing and financing plans/options.  If you are unable to attend instrument try out night, we are exploring additional opportunities for students to try instruments!  Please reach out if you have any questions about anything!

See the videos below to hear what each instrument sounds like to get a feel for what you might want to play!
